In the drug Inspector Total C, fipronil (10%) and moxidectin (2.5%) are used as active substances - one of the most effective and safe active substances currently used in world veterinary medicine:
Fipronil belongs to the group of phenylpyrazole compounds, the mechanism of action of which is based on the inhibition of the passage of chlorine ions into the GABA-dependent chloride channels of arthropods and the interruption of the transmission of nerve impulses, which leads to the death of ticks and insects.
Moxidectin is a semi-synthetic compound from the milbemycin group. Having a stimulating effect on the release of gamma-aminobutyric acid and binding to postsynaptic receptors, it causes a violation of muscle innervation, paralysis and death of ectoparasites and nematodes. Moxidectin is significantly safer than ivermectin: in particular, moxidectin is less toxic to collie dogs.
